Gran Fondo National Series® Points Championships title will be awarded in each Gran, Medio, and Piccolo Route age-group category, to the rider who has the fewest number of points after participating in a minimum of three Gran Fondo National Series events in the same distance category. In other words, three Gran route finishes counts, or three Medio route finishes, but two Gran route finishes and one Medio finish does not.

for purposes of the hill Climb your points total will be reflected in the distance category you participate in at other GFNS or GFNS partner events. Using the above example, if you ride two medio routes, your bbhc finish points will be awarded in the medio category. again, minimum participation to be ranked in the gfns series points is three events.

Calculating series points

Racers must attend at least three events to qualify for series titles.  At each event, a rider's points equal their placing in that event. 1st place gets one point, 2nd place gets 2 points….37th place gets 37 points. Your series standing is determined by adding the three lowest scores, from the same distance category, together. Say a rider finishes 3rd at one event, 8th at another event, and 1st in their last event; the riders series score would be 12; (3+8+1=12). If you participate in more than three events your worst score will be dropped and only your best three finishes will be calculated towards your overall score.

Cyclists can ride any distance category at any event, but must complete at least three of the same course distance category (i.e. 3x Gran, or 3x Medio, or 3x Piccolo) to qualify for the Gran Fondo National Series Points Championship.

For Series Points earned at a the National Championships event, the participants in both the Gran Route and GFNats will be scored together.

If there is a tie, the following will be used to weigh the points value – First, points earned at the National Championships event will be weighted to determine the winner. Secondly, if neither rider attends the National Championships, and if the riders competed in the same event, the title will go to the rider who scored highest at that event. Third, if neither rider was in the National Championships and the riders never competed in the same event then the title will go to the rider with the most recent result.

Awards will be given for the Series winners in the Medio, Piccolo, and Gran Routes. Each 1st place Series winner for each age group for the Gran Route will be awarded a Series winners kit.
